Urban Splash is transforming the derelict former Imperial Tobacco UK Headquarters into a new mainly residential development to be called Lake Shore. Imperial House was designed by American architects Skidmore, Owings and Merrill with London based Yorke Rosenberg Mardell in the early 1970s and the original Corten structure is Grade II listed.

The Lake Shore Art Programme has been revised in the light of recent changes to the funding and set up of the development. A previous Art Programme produced by Ginkgo Projects had been approved by BCC planning. This contained three key areas of work under the headings of Axis, Environment and Evolving Communities. The projects that had been previously proposed were both temporary and integrated into the physical fabric of the development.

Urban Splash is committed to the inclusion of artists work and creative practice within the development, the art programme will focus on both an element of permanent, physical work, but also on a durational temporary programme which will enhance the human side of the development.
