OPEN CALL: ARTIST RESIDENCIES AT BEDMINSTER GREEN METAL WORKS
We are thrilled to announce two artist residency opportunities at a new development of student housing called Metal Works in the Bedminster Green regeneration area of south Bristol. These residencies are part of the new Futureweave site-wide public art strategy for Bedminster Green. The vision, and creative approach to the strategy were co-developed with a “Hive” group of residents and city-based individuals with knowledge of Bedminster, to test, inform, and co-create a framework for five artist residencies across five redevelopment plots in the area.

ARTIST RESIDENCY: A RIVER’S PATH
Ginkgo Projects is seeking a Bristol or South West-based creative practitioner for an 8-month-long artist residency called “A River’s Path”.
”A River’s Path” Artist’s Residency will involve researching, designing and delivering a creative response to the evolving natural green and blue aspects of this area, as well as its historical and social context. The commissioned artist will develop an innovative and distinctive approach that reveals, inspires, and sparks curiosity in nature.

ARTIST RESIDENCY: COMMON THREADS
Ginkgo Projects seeks a Bristol or South West-based creative practitioner for an 8-month-long artist residency called ‘Common Threads’.
This residency will involve researching, designing and delivering creative responses to the evolving dynamics and demographics of this vibrant and diverse area, as well as its historical and social context. The artist will research the possibilities for partnership working or engaging with local organisations such as the city farm and develop a programme of activity that brings communities together and celebrates local culture.

ARTIST COMMISSION: TRINITY ROAD, BRISTOL
Ginkgo Projects is pleased to announce a commission within a new residential development on Trinity Road, located in the Old Market area of Bristol, and delivered by The Guinness Partnership. Ginkgo Projects has developed a public art strategy based on extensive research into the area, aiming to commission an artist who will engage creatively and sensitively with this culturally rich neighbourhood.
The selected artist(s) will collaborate with the client and design team to produce work that enhances the development’s identity and fosters connections with the local community. This opportunity is particularly suited to Bristol or South West-based artists, artist groups, or designer-makers with experience in working in the public realm. The chosen artist/s will build upon research conducted by the design team, including insights from Bristol-based architects Alec French, and contribute to the evolution of the site.
