MK Rose Milton Keynes
Client: Gordon Young
Artist: Gordon Young
Gordon Young created The MK Rose for the Milton Keynes Cenotaph Trust and the Milton Keynes Parks Trust in association with a vast number of community and interest groups. Ginkgo coordinated the contract and financial management of this complex project.
The MK Rose was opened on the 11.11.13 at this event over 200 people of different backgrounds, beliefs and interests gathered together on common ground with a shared passion for Milton Keynes. It provides a place for reflection where communities can gather gather to mark national, local or personal occasions, be they historical, in joy or in remembrance.
The MK Rose features a calendar of days important to the people of Milton Keynes. These are represented by 105 pillars arranged in the geometric design of a flower. So far, 62 pillars have been inscribed, 43 others have been left for future dedications. A water rill surrounds the work creating a place apart from the surrounding park.
